In this study, a Hermite matrix method is presented to solve high‐order linear Fredholm integro‐differential equations with variable coefficients under the mixed conditions in terms of the Hermite polynomials. The proposed method converts the equation and its conditions to matrix equations, which correspond to a system of linear algebraic equations with unknown Hermite coefficients, by means of collocation points on a finite interval. Then, by solving the matrix equation, the Hermite coefficients and the polynomial approach are obtained. Also, examples that illustrate the pertinent features of the method are presented; the accuracy of the solutions and the error analysis are performed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A special case of Haiman?s identity [M. Haiman, Vanishing theorems and character formulas for the Hilbert scheme of points in the plane, Invent. Math. 149 (2002) 371–407] for the character of the quotient ring of diagonal coinvariants under the diagonal action of the symmetric group yields a formula for the bigraded Hilbert series as a sum of rational functions in q,t. In this paper we show how a summation identity of Garsia and Zabrocki for Macdonald polynomial Pieri coefficients can be used to transform Haiman?s formula for the Hilbert series into an explicit polynomial in q,t with integer coefficients. We also provide an equivalent formula for the Hilbert series as the constant term in a multivariate Laurent series.  相似文献

For extra-large Coxeter systems (m(s,r)>3), we construct a natural and explicit set of Soergel bimodules D={Dw}wW such that each Dw contains as a direct summand (or is equal to) the indecomposable Soergel bimodule Bw. When decategorified, we prove that D gives rise to a set {dw}wW that is actually a basis of the Hecke algebra. This basis is close to the Kazhdan–Lusztig basis and satisfies a positivity condition.  相似文献

We study polynomials orthogonal on a uniform grid. We show that each weight function gives two potentials and each potential leads to a structure relation (lowering operator). These results are applied to derive second order difference equations satisfied by the orthogonal polynomials and nonlinear difference equations satisfied by the recursion coefficients in the three-term recurrence relations.  相似文献

We consider the spectral properties of matrix polynomials over the max algebra. In particular, we show how the Perron-Frobenius theorem for the max algebra extends to such polynomials and illustrate the relevance of this for multistep difference equations in the max algebra. We propose an efficient approach to the problem of multi-degree reduction of rectangular Bézier patches, with prescribed boundary control points. We observe that the solution can be given in terms of constrained bivariate dual Bernstein polynomials. The complexity of the method is O(mn1n2) with m ? min(m1m2), where (n1n2) and (m1m2) is the degree of the input and output Bézier surface, respectively. If the approximation—with appropriate boundary constraints—is performed for each patch of several smoothly joined rectangular Bézier surfaces, the result is a composite surface of global Cr continuity with a prescribed r ? 0. In the detailed discussion, we restrict ourselves to r ∈ {0, 1}, which is the most important case in practical application. Some illustrative examples are given.  相似文献

Recently, the authors introduced some generalizations of the Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials and the Apostol-Euler polynomials (see [Q.-M. Luo, H.M. Srivastava, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 308 (2005) 290-302] and [Q.-M. Luo, Taiwanese J. Math. 10 (2006) 917-925]). The main object of this paper is to investigate an analogous generalization of the Genocchi polynomials of higher order, that is, the so-called Apostol-Genocchi polynomials of higher order. For these generalized Apostol-Genocchi polynomials, we establish several elementary properties, provide some explicit relationships with the Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials and the Apostol-Euler polynomials, and derive various explicit series representations in terms of the Gaussian hypergeometric function and the Hurwitz (or generalized) zeta function. We also deduce their special cases and applications which are shown here to lead to the corresponding results for the Genocchi and Euler polynomials of higher order. By introducing an analogue of the Stirling numbers of the second kind, that is, the so-called λ-Stirling numbers of the second kind, we derive some basic properties and formulas and consider some interesting applications to the family of the Apostol type polynomials. Furthermore, we also correct an error in a previous paper [Q.-M. Luo, H.M. Srivastava, Comput. Math. Appl. 51 (2006) 631-642] and pose two open problems on the subject of our investigation.  相似文献

This paper deals with large amplitude oscillation of a nonlinear pendulum attached to a rotating structure. By coupling of the well-known Maclaurin series expansion and orthogonal Chebyshev polynomials, the governing differential equation with sinusoidal nonlinearity can be reduced to form a cubic-quintic Duffing equation. The resulting Duffing type temporal problem is solved by an analytic iteration approach. Two approximate formulas for the frequency (period) and the periodic solution are established for small as well as large amplitudes of motion. Illustrative examples are selected and compared to those analytical and exact solutions to substantiate the accuracy and correctness of the approximate analytical approach.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to present a new approach to the finite time L2-norm polynomial approximation problem. A new formulation of this problem leads to an equivalent linear system whose solution can be investigated analytically.
